Political Enlightenment ...

I've always been politically minded ~ I've always been able to identify inequalities and, rather than simply ignore them, have tried to do what I can to change things. Unfortunately, much as I'd love to say my efforts have led to a major shift in the world's perception of the inequalities that exist all around us, they haven't. However, I think, in my own small way, I have managed to help some people ~ some tangibly and others simply by getting them to question what they see and what they hear.

Too many people walk around with blind eyes and deaf ears, to save themselves from having to confront issues they feel either unable or unwilling to change.

  • I wonder how many people's social media pages carry messages of disgust at the conditions in third world sweatshops, or about child labour ~ they sit at their keyboard typing their criticisms in their cut-price shoes and fake designer clothing!
  • How many love their little doggies or bunnies ~ filling social media with pictures of their funny ways, or perhaps scouring the local area for a neighbour's lost cat ~ but doing so whilst wearing the lipstick or aftershave developed following the mass slaughter of rabbits, rats and mice?
  • How many of these sycophants did we see standing outside their houses, cheering on the frontline NHS workers ... yet, when it came to them wanting a wage rise as reward for putting their lives at risk daily, with little equipment or support from this pathetic excuse of a government, where were they then? Sitting quietly indoors, hands doing anything other than clapping, lest these workers get what they want and the subsequent fallout creates a 0.25% drop in interest rates and the subsequent loss in value of their property to the tune of a couple of hundred pounds! Got to get your priorities right, haven't you?

I have a word for those kind of people ... scum!  At least I can understand the well-off Tory for standing up for his "rights" ~ that is, the right to stay rich on the back of other's labour ~ that's the way his life is and he obviously doesn't want that to change. I can understand that. I don't like it ~ they remain the greatest scum of all ~ but at least they have a solid reason for wanting nothing to change.

But those that vote Tory simply so the value of their property keeps rising, and bugger the rest of the people who can't afford to buy a home ~ or even rent one in their local area, due to the number of Airbnb properties some have purchased as additional income streams, so they can retire early, work less, or even not at all. Sorry, but you are the parasites … you are the ones keeping others' kids from being able to afford a home. I hope, one day, that will all come crashing down around your heads …
